Reminisce

 Hello,

I was surfing Pinterest today and ran across a couple interesting people that I have admired for many seasons: Joan Didion, Man Ray, Vanessa Carter, & Maya Angelou.

A quotation from Maya, that I was not familiar with: "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, & liking how you do it."

Another quotation, this time from Joan Didion, "I have already lost touch with a couple of people I used to be".

These quotations resonate with me at a gut level, what do any of the readers feel?

 My new Logo.

A topic for contemplation and debate:

I just checked my email, and out of 19 postings, 17 of them were ads for employment opportunities.  I see job listings in many business front windows around town.  It seems that many people do not want to work anymore, they seem to just want to collect compensation checks and scrounge on street corners.

It seems to me that there needs to be a major overhaul on the way some of our population, here in the U.S., sees their responsibilities in life and living.

Does anyone reading this post agree or disagree with my perception on this issue?

Something to reflect upon relative to this type of issue, the process and actions taken by the general population during the great depression of the 1930s, the peoples, and the government's expectations and actions.

Please offer a point of view of your own on this issue.

Nancy and I will be busy the next few days getting ready for our 2021 vacation trip.  We are planning a fairly long journey across Oregon and into Idaho and Montanna.  Our trip will take us through Bend, La Prine, John Day, Sumpter, Baker City, La Grande, & Joseph Oregon.  Then we take off for Kalispell Montana
via Couer'd Alene Idaho. Then back home.  We will be visiting Nancy's Cousen, Bob while in Kalispell.  In our opinion, this is one of the many beautiful scenic routes through the Pacific North West.

We are planning on departing on Wednesday the twelfth, and taking one and a half to two weeks for the trip.

I will be taking photographs and posting to this blog along the way.

 Hello all.

Another interest of mine, unusual things.

I saw this on Pinterest and thought it was something I liked because it looks impossible at first glance.  Then I saw the logic of it and wanted to build it.  It is now a work in progress, the design, fabrication process, and materials are all finished.  Now I have to actually build it.

First, thanks for the replies, I'm really surprised and happy to receive them.

Second, I assume you both are talking about Elon in the replies of being a character and Mars.  Yes, he is a character, but a good one in my opinion, and he seems to be serious about getting to Mars in his lifetime.

Third, Walter Hooper & C. S. Lewis, I can't make up my mind between the two, it is like trying to pick your favorite sibling, I guess I like them equally, but in slightly different ways.  C.S. Lewis, again, in my opinion, was an extraordinary man.  His lifetime body of work was not just writing children's stories, but even those had disguised hidden meanings.  Most of his work was philosophically tainted theological commentary. I have only read four or five of his books so far and have enjoyed them very much.  I have watched several film and video presentations such as those on SITC.  Besides the two I suggested there are a couple more on SITC, one by Michael Ward that is good, and several on youtube.

Another interest of mine, that I have not mentioned until now is SITC; Eric Metaxas has some very interesting intellectuals as guests in his presentations.  Thomas Sowell & Malcolm Gladwell are a couple that comes to mind right off.

Well, I'll sign off for today, hope to get to reply to more of your comments,

I have recently read a biography of Elon Musk, and found him a fascinating person, I really like him.  Are any of the rest of you familiar with him?

 Well, I'm back.

Above one can see one of the several computer art models I have created over the past few years.  This particular one was created last year in November, it is a Detrick Taube, the first German military aircraft put into service.  I will try to post a picture with each of my future postings.

Another thing of note, the font I am using.  I have also recently become interested in fonts, especially script type fonts, and will be using them in my postings.

I want to have this, REXKLAM, blog be apolitical, except for pure Aristotelianism. discourse in the ancient Greek style.

I will close for today with an recommendation, go to,  Socrates in The city and watch the two interviews Eric Metaxas did with Walter Hooper.
