Mahlathina & the Mahotella Queens

 Hello all,

I just finished a few performances of Mahlathina and the Mahotella Queens on YouTube.  I remember them fondly from my first attendance of one of their performances in Santa Monica CA with my Daughter Kim.  This was back in the early 90's I think.  I was so impressed with them I took my wife to see them a few days later and she enjoyed them too.

Then a few years later, the mid 90's, While on assignment in Seattle I heard a radio advertisement for their performance in Tacoma, as well as an private meeting with them in a small conference room, prior to the actual performance.  I attended both.  The private meeting was great, as well as the following performance.

I have a couple of music video DVD's I watch every few years too.

I did realize that they had stopped performing and assumed that they had just gotten too old for the grind.  But, on today's YouTube viewing I noticed that they reported that Mahlathina had passed away, back in 1999, as well as some of the "Queens" later on.  What sad news, I loved them so much.  God bless all of them.

If you do not know of them you might give them a try, you might like them too.  One can find videos of their performances on both YouTube and Pinterest.

Be well and think like a Stoic,

Rex

Enchiridion

 Hello all loyal followers,

I just finished listening to an audio version of Epictetus' Enchiridion, a list of Stoic points of logic and reasoning.  Basically a summary of Stoic philosophy.

With respect to all,

REX

New Philosophy For Myself

I have acquired an new attitude toward life, Stoicism.

I am halfway through a lecture series, "Think Like a Stoic", on what used to be the Great Books series which is now called, Wonderium.

For me, it is great.  Just halfway through I feel much better about life and the purpose of it.

I now have another historic hero, Marcus Aurelius, the, "Philosopher", Emperor of ancient Rome.

My next read will be his Meditations.

Sincerely,

REX
