And still going!

Nancy got me out of bed this morning, Saturday, at 8:30 AM, “let’s go 4 wheeling”, I say, “WHAT”!

We went 4 wheeling, needless to say! We hadn’t unloaded the truck and trailer yet so it was the packing of a light lunch and we were on our way by 10:30 AM. This trip we decided on the Chiloquin Ridge run. Nancy hadn’t been on it yet and is a simple and easy ride. Everything went well and we had fun riding a rough trail under the high line transmission lines traversing the forest and mountain. We returned home approximately 4:00 PM.

OBTW: Nancy's weraing an helmet now, me too!

Still going!
By Friday the 8th Nancy eager to go out 4 wheeling again so the two of us set out for the Klamath River Gorge to visit the “Frain” and “Way” Ranches and Cemetery.
All three of these locations are Historical Landmarks from the Oregon Trail Pioneers.
We took a light lunch and picnicked at the Cemetery. Everything went smooth with no problems, we returned home approximately 5:30 PM, tired and dirty.

For our next adventure Nancy was not feeling well; so John and I went back to Stukel Mt. on the S. Poe Valley side again.

This trip turned out to be relatively short; John suffered a tire blowout on a down hill track and rolled his ATV!
We had just traversed an extremely treacherous ¼ mile decent and come out onto smooth ground, the last place one would expect to have a problem, go figure!

Well, his RF tire was flat and we did not think it would make it back up the treacherous decent we had just finished so we decided to try to circle around the Butte on, hopefully, an easier track.

What an opportunity for me to try out my brand new GPS! This was my first time out with my new Garmin Colorado 400 T GPS. It has built in Topo mapping of the entire US! To make a long story short: I was able to operate the GPS sufficiently to get us back on the alternate route safely!

Two things amazed me: first is that John’s ATV was able to drive back on the flat tire some 7 or 8 miles at 3 to 5 MPH; second was that the GPS mapping had such finite detail that cattle watering ponds and obscure, seldom used, 4wd tracks were shown. We made it back with no further difficulties.

No pic's for theis trip!

Our next adventure, on the 26th, was a trip to Lake of the Woods for a picnic, a Pontoon boat ride, and sailing in my old sailboat: “Valkyrie”.

I gave the boat to Nancy’s Nephew on the condition that he invite my out on a sailing adventure at least twice a year, this was the first, we are going again Sept 6th and 7th, to Lake of the Woods again.

The party consisted of: Nancy’s Mom, her brother Gordon and his wife Ann, her nephew and his wife Andrea and his daughter Ashley, and then Nancy and I.

Well, it has been a while since I last posted;
I hope I have not lost my vast following in the interim!

First off: after the canoe trip, on Wed. the 24th, we: Nancy, John our next door neighbor, and I, took a ride on Stukel Mt. again. This time we launched at a new site on the eastern flank of the Mt. from S. Poe Valley Rd. It is a little different terrain than we have been in on the other side of the Mt. We climbed a pretty steep hill to get a wonderful view of the Poe Valley. Our trip lasted about 3 ½ hours and we returned to the launch site right at dusk.
