LWR
KLAMATH
WILDLIFE
REFUGE

Nancy and I birded Lwr Klamath Wildlife Refuge this evening.

We saw many of the likely suspects, with two exceptions: first, there were literally hundreds of Great White Egrets scattered all about the Refuge in groups of ten to twenty with some widely scattered singles; second, there were no Raptors to be seen anywhere we were.

The significance of the Great Egrets is that although not at all uncommon here, anytime of the year, we have never seen them in these great of numbers before.

Other species seen: White Faced Ibis, Black Necked Stilts, American Avocets, Killdeer, White Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, Forster’s Tern, Western Grebe, Mule Deer, and a Coyote.

We rounded out the evening with pizza at Primo’s in Dorris CA and then home.
